Collaborators
should enter details of new cases (including their full travel
history in the two to ten days before onset) via the secure
EWGLINET website. The address of the accommodation
site should be provided wherever possible to aid correct identification.
A total of ten different overnight stays can be reported if
relevant, to cover the case's travel history during the incubation
period. Information on the hotel room number, tour operator
used and other useful information (such as known exposure
to whirlpool spas, visits to water theme parks and other anecdotal
evidence on others in a tour party who may be ill) are gathered
wherever possible.
Methods
for the Notification of Cases to Collaborators
Cases
are notified to the relevant collaborators by fax, or by email.
In addition to the formal signed reports, information is also
transferred by email for ad hoc requests and updates to case
reports.
Dissemination
of Surveillance Data
The
collaborators can access the database containing full data
on cases in the last 2 years, and may request all other details
as needed. The environmental investigation reports database
is also available to them via the secure
EWGLINET website. All collaborators receive,
by email, a monthly
summary report of EWGLINET case reporting and
investigation activity.
